I crept slowly to my door. Before I opened it, I heard a slight tap tap tapping on the other side of door, in the general direction of my parents' room. I say tap tap, but, at the time, I actually, for the life of me, thought it was the crackling sounds of flames. My heart sunk to my kneecaps. But then wait a minute, dont be silly. I dont smell any smoke.
I opened my door and lo, it was the sound of crazy mad dripping and running water, in my parents room and also in the dining room!!! And I was like, What the fuck?! I went to the electric main box and turned the power back on to see what could be sawn and what do I see? Thats right. Salma Hayek!
Okay, so it was water dripping from the ceiling in the dining area. Whatever. Same goes for my mom n pops' bedroom too.
Mom n Pops' bedroom floor. So long story short, I woke my bro up and he went and turned off the pipes at the mains. My parents arent home at this moment as they're in KL. We agreed to not tell them about this incident as it'll only make them worry and come back from their trip.
It was devastating. Half of the flooring in my parents' room was flooded to the ankles and their wall to wall carpets are soaked to point of it not even being funny. My dads study is a mess and a rug in the centre of it is completely submerged in about 2 inches of water. In the dining room its no less of a watery hell. The carpets are soaked like crazy and the water had made its way to the kitchen.
When the dripping stopped, my bro decided there was nothing that could be done 'cept wait till morning. Day came and I took an emergency half day leave to help clean up the mess. It was nasty, I tell ya. Used a butt load of towels to wipe things up.
Luckily my bro had a contact in the carpet drying / cleaning job so he'd made the necessary calls and now, work'll commence in half an hour or so. Phew.
After further investigations, a certain part that stops the water from flowing in the tank broke and unleashed an angry torrent of H20, overflowing the tank and fucked everything up below.
So thats pretty much it. No one got hurt and all I can wish is that there'll be no damp carpet smell in my parents' room. And no mildew.
All in all, there are two things that I'm thankful for:
1) Thank God it's only water. If it had been the tank of flaming hot magma, it'll be a bitch to clean up. (Yes, we have a tank of flaming hot magma. Where do you think we get hot water?)
2) Thank God I woke up when I did. If the power didnt go off, I'd be sleeping until working time and my parents' room would be an aquarium. Which would be cool. But my parents would never approve of their room being turned into an aquarium. I can hear my mum nagging, 'Who's going to feed the fish?'
